The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation is funding a large scale project to sequence the genomes from a variety of marine bacterial isolates and large-insert clones collected by numerous researchers. Our laboratory will submit dozens of isolates for sequencing. It is hypothesized that this information will be used to help determine the various chemical reactions that drive the biogeochemical cycles in the oceans.
